Barksdale & Associates, Inc. (B & A) is a Small, Woman-owned environmental consulting business. The company was founded in 2001 by John D. Barksdale, P.G. Mr. Barksdale was previously a program manager and Vice President with two national environmental consulting firms since 1988. During this time he performed numerous environmental projects in locations throughout the U.S., and in Europe and the Caribbean.

Since 2003 the business has been owned and operated by Joan M. Overton. Ms. Overton is responsible for the day to day operation of the business and also has expertise in the areas of indoor air quality, mold and water damage restoration and technical editing. 

B & A currently consists of professional environmental specialists headquartered in Pensacola, Florida, and in our supporting offices in Jacksonville, Florida and Washington, D.C. Our staff resources include the following disciplines:

• Professional Geologist
• Indoor Air Quality Specialist
• Certified Industrial Hygienist
• Certified Microbial Remediator
• Wetland Scientist
• Construction Technician
• Drafting/CADD/GIS Specialist &
• Publication Specialist.

We also have a cadre of associates, available as needed, including professional engineers, chemists, biologists and remediation technicians. In addition, we subcontract services that we do not provide directly, such as laboratory analyses, drilling services and remedial construction.

As a small business, B & A maintains a responsiveness, cost-effectiveness and attention to detail that fully meets the environmental support needs of government and industry, and results in a high degree of repeat business from our clients. Our technical expertise and understanding of the details of State and Federal environmental regulatory programs also directly benefits our clients. B & A scientists and engineers have been solving environmental problems throughout the U.S and overseas for over 20 years.

B & A's staff are fully trained and certified in numerous aspects of environmental services including professional geology, indoor air quality, wetlands delineation, and mold remediation. B & A is also fully licensed and insured. We can provide resumes, project descriptions, client references, and insurance certificates, as may be required for your project.
